ICP-OES stands for Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer.


Using inductively coupled plasma as the excitation light source, the sample is atomized and brought into the plasma torch by a carrier gas, where it is evaporated, dissociated, excited, and ionized. Different atoms or ions of different elements emit characteristic spectra during the excitation process. These characteristic spectra are separated into spectral lines of different wavelengths by a spectroscopic system, and the intensity of specific wavelength spectral lines is detected by a detector to determine the content of each element in the sample.
