SciAps Z-901 CSi Analyzer

  • Argon purging is essential for quantitative analysis using LIBS and OES, and for carbon it is critical. SciAps patented Opti-Purge technology is a key component to accurately measuring carbon. Opti-Purge delivers argon exactly where it is needed and uses approximately 1000 times less argon than spark OES, allowing the user to change canisters. Operators can analyze up to 600 samples for most alloy tests and 125-200 samples for carbon analysis using a canister.

  • The SciAps laser delivers 5-6 mJ/pulse at the sample with a repetition rate of 50 Hz. As any user of spark OES knows, sample preparation is critical for carbon analysis - a good grind and a good pre-burn are as important for LIBS as they are for spark OES. The SciAps high energy and high repetition rate laser (50 Hz) quickly burns away surface contaminants to provide a good analysis.

  • Grating is essential for accurate carbon testing using LIBS. The laser moves to 6 different locations and analyzes each point for 0.5 seconds per second of testing. The laser is typically a 50 um diameter beam. At this scale, micro-inclusions in the alloy and the grain structure of the alloy can affect the analysis. By averaging the six unique locations, the system collects data representative of the alloy, not just a single location.

  • Proper alignment is critical to getting a good analysis. Eliminate the guesswork with the SciAps micro camera and LED spotlight. The camera displays the sample in high resolution and ensures the instrument is positioned correctly: The LED spotlight shows exactly where the laser will burn the sample. Accurate excitation every time.
